A car drove off a road and crashed into a river in the central Vietnamese city of Hoi An, killing three of the four family members in the vehicle early Friday.
Chu Tung Giang, the driver, abruptly slammed his car through a guard rail on the road and plummeted into the Hoai River at around 0:10 on Friday, Pham Kieu, a local government chairman, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper.
Only the family’s 14-year-old daughter managed to escape the sinking vehicle. The bodies of Giang, his wife, and youngest daughter were recovered later that same day, Keu said.
The family was on their way back home from a trip to Hoi An, Kieu said.

The surviving passenger, Giang’s first born, said her father angrily steered the vehicle off course during an argument with her mother, the chairman said, adding that an investigation is ongoing.
Witnessing the car pulled out of water, some local residents could not fight back tears.
One of them, Nguyen Thi An, said this was the first time in her life that she had seen such a touching scene.
