The new fee will apply to all new orders placed on the platform from 12:00 am on October 12, according to TikTok Shop’s latest announcement.
The fee starts at VND3,000 ($0.11) per parcel and increases by weight brackets, capped at VND65,000 per parcel.
Sellers, not buyers, will bear the cost, deducted directly from settlement payments.
TikTok Shop Vietnam confirmed the fee will not be shown to buyers at checkout.
However, if a buyer returns an item after successful delivery, the logistics service fee will not be refunded to the seller.
The additional fixed charge for bulky, heavy goods has raised concerns among small businesses selling household goods, assembled furniture, and packaged food.
TikTok Shop sellers already face several mandatory operating costs, including transaction fees, platform commission fees, and order processing fees.
“Selling heavy goods already costs more because of foam boxes, packing tape, and high shipping fees,” a household goods seller in Ho Chi Minh City told Tuoi Tre (Youth) online newspaper on Wednesday.
“With the platform [TikTok Shop Vietnam] charging up to VND65,000 per parcel, we either absorb the loss or raise prices and risk losing customers to other platforms.”
TikTok Shop Vietnam requires sellers to declare parcel dimensions and weight accurately when listing products.
Fees are initially estimated based on seller input but finalized using measurements taken by logistics partners.
If actual weight or size exceeds declared values, sellers may face higher deductions than expected.
