Vietnam stands ready to create favorable conditions for U.S. tech corporations to invest and operate in the country on the basis of harmonious interests, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and State President To Lam told a reception for David Zapolsky, senior vice-president and chief global affairs and legal officer at Amazon in Hanoi on Friday.

He praised Amazon’s business and investment performance in Vietnam in recent years, noting that the company has contributed positively to the country’s socio-economic development and Vietnam-United States relations.

The top Vietnamese leader reaffirmed that Vietnam sees the United States as one of its most important partners, expressing a desire for bilateral cooperation to continue developing in line with the framework of the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership.

He noted economic, trade, and investment ties remain key pillars, while science and technology cooperation is emerging as a breakthrough area.

He also emphasized that the country is actively improving its legal and regulatory environment in a transparent manner, with strong attention to intellectual property protection.

These efforts are aimed at creating favorable conditions for hi-tech enterprises, in line with Vietnam’s development-oriented governance approach and its shift toward a growth model anchored in science, technology, and innovation.

He encouraged Amazon to further leverage its capabilities and build on its existing investment achievements in Vietnam.

Party chief and State President Lam also suggested that Amazon continue serving as an important partner in following the Politburo’s Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in sci-tech, innovation and digital transformation, making contributions to data infrastructure, artificial intelligence and quality workforce training in Vietnam.

In response, Zapolsky expressed honor at being received by Vietnam’s top leader.

He highlighted Amazon’s ongoing cooperation and business activities in Vietnam, expressing confidence in the country’s potential to become a leading technology hub in the region.

Vietnam offers substantial opportunities for collaboration in Amazon’s core areas of expertise, including cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and big data, he said.

Zapolsky affirmed Amazon’s long-term commitment to Vietnam, emphasizing the company’s trust in the country’s development potential and its clear strategic goals and policy directions.

Amazon pledged to accompany Vietnam in developing digital infrastructure, training high-quality human resources, and contributing to the country’s socio-economic growth.
