Tourist dives into Vietnam's Ha Long Bay during pickleball match on cruise ship deck
A tourist jumped off a cruise ship into Ha Long Bay, located in Quang Ninh Province, northern Vietnam while playing pickleball on the upper deck, prompting safety concerns and a formal investigation by local authorities.
The provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism confirmed on Wednesday it had dispatched inspectors to work with the parties involved after a video circulated online showing a man diving off the Black Pearl Cruise (registration QN-6699) during a pickleball game on board.
The clip shows two tourists playing pickleball on the ship’s upper deck when one of them suddenly jumps overboard in an apparent attempt to save the ball.

Notably, no life-saving equipment was visible, and the scene unfolded in front of a crowd of onlookers, including children.
The department said it would conduct a thorough review and would strictly handle any violations found.
