Toyota to set up app development hub in Poland
BRUSSELS -- Japanese auto giant Toyota Motor Corp.'s European unit said Tuesday it will set up a software development center in southwestern Poland.

The Toyota Digital Hub, to be located in Wroclaw, will focus on apps, cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity solutions to upgrade connected services for European owners of Toyota and Lexus vehicles, Toyota Motor Europe NV/SA said.
Some 200 specialists will be working at the center to specifically enhance smartphone apps for remote access to functions such as locking and unlocking doors, controlling air conditioners and checking battery charge, as well as to develop a cloud platform for the services, it noted.
Poland has a "strong pool of highly skilled specialists and ... leading technical universities," Thierry Boitel, research and development vice president at Toyota Motor Europe, said.
