These locally-produced mini mobile homes are reportedly inspired by growing demand for fully equipped mobile living spaces for car-based camping trips.
Instead of traditional tents, users can now opt for a self-contained living module mounted on the bed of a pickup truck, allowing them to cook, rest, and sleep comfortably throughout their journey.
For travelers with higher expectations for comfort and convenience, mini mobile homes designed specifically for pickup trucks are emerging as a compelling alternative.
One notable example is the SunLimo F18, a locally designed and manufactured mini camper module.

Built as a removable unit placed directly on the pickup bed, the F18 requires no cutting, welding or structural modification to the original vehicle.

According to the manufacturer, the SunLimo F18 is entirely produced in Vietnam. The model belongs to the F18 Luxury Signature line, which allows customers to customize the layout and interior configuration to suit their personal needs. Due to the level of craftsmanship and personalization involved, only about five SunLimo vehicles are completed each year.

Each F18 Luxury unit takes roughly three months to complete, depending on customization. This version sells for VND650 million (US$24,740) or higher. The manufacturer also confirms that the product has already been exported to several nations.

The SunLimo F18 measures 3,850 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 2,200 mm in height. The camper module has a dry weight of some 550 kilograms. Its body is made from a one-piece molded composite structure and comes with a five-year warranty for the shell and a one-year warranty for other components and equipment. Designed to mount directly onto a pickup truck bed, the camper can be installed or removed without altering the vehicle’s original frame. When not in use, owners can detach and lower the entire module at home using a dedicated lifting leg system supplied by SunLimo.

Inside, the F18 Luxury features a fully integrated living space, including a sleeping area, common lounge, kitchen, and enclosed bathroom. The sleeping area includes a foldable double bed measuring 1,650 x 1,750 mm, expandable to 2,000 mm, paired with a five-centimeter-thick foam mattress.

The living area is equipped with a four-seater sofa combined with a dining table, storage cabinets, and vinyl flooring.

Five acrylic windows provide thermal and sound insulation in line with European design standards. The main door uses a three-layer high-grade aluminum structure, while a foldable rear ladder and grab handles make access easier.

In the F18 Luxury version, the electrical system features a 16kWh lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery pack, paired with a 7,000W inverter.

Power outlets include 12V sockets, USB and Type-C ports, a 24V fast-charging port, an Anderson connector for charging while driving, outdoor power outlets, and a 220V external power input. The system also supports solar charging via a 24V-45A MPPT controller, accommodating up to eight to ten 100W solar panels depending on configuration.

The water system includes a 200-liter clean water tank made from SUS 304 stainless steel, a 12V electric pump, and a water level display. The kitchen area is fitted with a stainless-steel sink to meet basic daily needs.

Additional amenities include two wine compartments beneath a fixed armrest, a concealed ceiling-mounted air-conditioning system, and a skylight.

The enclosed bathroom features a shower, washbasin, and toilet. In the Luxury configuration, buyers can opt for a fixed electric toilet. The camper can also be equipped with a 24V water heater and a water filtration system capable of treating water sourced from lakes, rivers or streams, ensuring sufficient water for bathing and daily use throughout the trip.

Beyond the Luxury version, the SunLimo F18 is offered in multiple configurations to suit different usage needs. According to the manufacturer’s price list, the F18 Eco starts at around VND350 million ($13,320), while the F18 Premium is priced at some VND450 million ($17,130). The F18 Luxury is priced from around VND650 million, with the final rate varying based on equipment options and the level of interior customization requested by customers.
