Organized by the Thanh Da Rowing Club in collaboration with the British Consulate General, the event raised nearly VND50 million (US$1,900).
Participants used Concept2 rowing machines to simulate river races in a bid to promote community health, cultural exchange, and awareness of the Saigon River.
British Consul General Alexandra Smith, an active member of the club since August 2024, joined other rowers in the challenge.
Smith said rowing had given her both strength and new friendships in Ho Chi Minh City.
She added that early mornings on the Saigon River were not just about exercise but a unique way to experience the city’s rhythm.

Smith said she hoped opening the consulate gates for the event would help bridge cultural divides.
Thanh Da Rowing Club is among the most active water sports communities in Ho Chi Minh City.
The club regularly organizes 3- to 5-kilometer rowing sessions on the river, drawing participation from both locals and the international community.
In addition to physical fitness, the club promotes environmental awareness and cultural exchange through accessible water sports.
