Vietnam Airlines, Singapore Airlines to launch codeshare deal in October

Under the codeshare agreement, flights operated by Vietnam Airlines from Singapore to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City will carry Singapore Airlines’ code (SQ).

Conversely, Singapore Airlines flights from Singapore to Hanoi, Da Nang, and Ho Chi Minh City will bear Vietnam Airlines’ code (VN).

Tickets will go on sale from October 10 through the carriers’ official channels and authorized travel agencies.

Nguyen Quang Trung, head of planning and development at Vietnam Airlines, said the deal enables the carrier to enhance competitiveness, expand international networks, and improve service quality.

Customers will enjoy more flexibility and seamless connections, he added.

Dai Haoyu, senior vice-president of planning and marketing at Singapore Airlines, emphasized that the cooperation will benefit passengers while boosting tourism, trade, and bilateral ties.

In 2024, nearly 1.9 million passengers traveled between Vietnam and Singapore.

In the first seven months of 2025, the figure reached 1.2 million, up 5.7 percent year on year.

Vietnam Airlines currently operates seven weekly flights on the Singapore-Hanoi route and 18 on the Singapore-Ho Chi Minh City route, carrying about 261,000 passengers in the first eight months of 2025.
