The airport operator confirmed the move on Wednesday, saying that the relocation is aimed at optimizing operations and enhancing the passenger experience.
The national flag carrier had already been testing several domestic routes, including Ho Chi Minh City-Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City-Van Don, from the T3 terminal since late April.
This change will now apply to all remaining domestic flights operated by Vietnam Airlines.
Meanwhile, domestic flights run by VietJet, Pacific Airlines, Vasco, Vietravel Airlines, Bamboo Airways, and Vietnam Airlines' flights to Con Dao, Ca Mau, Rach Gia using ATR72 aircraft will continue to operate at the T1 terminal.
Vietnam Airlines initially planned to complete the move by April 28 but postponed the full transition to adjust to operational realities.
Despite efforts to streamline the process, some passengers have faced confusion between the T1 and T3 terminals, causing missed flights during the early phase of operations.
Tan Son Nhat International Airport now operates with three terminals, including T1 and T3 for domestic flights, and T2 for international services, with a total annual passenger capacity of 50 million.
Vietnam Airlines noted that these three terminals are located separately within the airport area.
Depending on traffic, travel time between the terminals can take approximately 20 minutes.
To transfer between the terminals, passengers can use complimentary shuttle bus services that run every 10-20 minutes, as well as ride-hailing and taxi services.
