Vietnam appoints Le Hoai Trung as acting foreign minister
Vietnam on Saturday named Le Hoai Trung as acting foreign minister, replacing Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son, who has temporarily stepped down from the role.

The decision was announced by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at a ceremony in Hanoi.
Trung, 64, is a member of the Vietnamese Communist Party's Secretariat and chief of the Party Central Office.

According to the government, State President Luong Cuong approved Deputy PM Son's temporary departure from the foreign minister post, pending formal dismissal by the National Assembly.
The Party's Government Committee also appointed Trung as Party Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the 2025–30 term.

Trung has held senior diplomatic roles during his 43-year career.
PM Chinh said he expects Trung and the ministry's leadership to continue playing a key role in advancing Vietnam's foreign policy objectives.
