A Vietnamese delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son attended the signing ceremony for the Charter of the Board of Peace on ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip on Thursday, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, according to Vietnam's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The attendance, at the invitation of U.S. President Donald Trump, underscores Vietnam’s intention to contribute constructively to international efforts to promote peace and stability in the Middle East.

At the event, President Trump, together with 19 heads of state and government representatives from countries and territories including Bahrain, Morocco, Argentina, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Hungary, Indonesia, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Pakistan, Paraguay, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Uzbekistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Mongolia signed the charter.

Their participation reflects broad international interest in renewing diplomatic engagement to address the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

During the ceremony, Deputy PM Son held discussions with senior members of President Trump’s cabinet, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer.

At the meetings, Son affirmed that Vietnam highly values President Trump’s efforts to promote global peace, cooperation, and prosperity, and expressed the country’s readiness to join the Board of Peace as a founding member.

He said Vietnam looks forward to working closely with other signatories to help implement the Gaza peace plan, which was approved by the United Nations Security Council under Resolution 2803 on November 17, 2025.

The deputy prime minister emphasized that Vietnam’s participation is based on its consistent stance on the Palestinian issue, in line with international law and the United Nations Charter, with the goal of fostering sustainable peace in the Middle East.

Son also conveyed the appreciation of Party General Secretary To Lam for President Trump’s continued support for strengthening Vietnam–U.S. relations.
