Vietnam, Bulgaria aim for strategic partnership

Vietnam and Bulgaria have agreed to take measures to step up their comprehensive relations towards a strategic partnership in the near future.

The agreement was reached at a Monday meeting between Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and his Bulgarian counterpart Plamen Vasilve Oresharsk during the latter’s visit to Vietnam from April 6 to 9 at the invitation of the former. 

During their talks, PM Dung affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to developing ties with the eastern European country.

He thanked Bulgaria for its assistance to Vietnam in the Southeast Asian country’s national establishment and development, and described the Bulgarian PM’s visit as an important milestone to bolster both sides’ traditional friendship and multifaceted cooperation.

Premier Oresharski said his country considers Vietnam its strategic partner in the region and will make more efforts to further develop the relationship with the Southeast Asian nation.
 
The two leaders agreed to raise their countries’ relationship to a higher level in various fields, including economics, education and training, tourism, national defense, and security.

They also discussed international and regional issues of mutual concerns, and vowed to take measures to promote bilateral and multi-lateral relations in the future in the framework of the Vietnam-EU cooperation.

After their talks, the two PMs witnessed the signing of a number of documents on bilateral cooperation.

The documents include the Vietnam-Bulgarian Culture and Tourism cooperation program in the 2014-2016 phase and a Memorandum of Understanding on agricultural, breeding and seafood between the Vietnamese Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the Bulgarian Ministry of Agriculture and Food.
