Hanh becomes the 20th Vietnamese player to hold a grandmaster title, including both Grandmaster (GM) and Woman Grandmaster (WGM), and the country’s seventh female WGM.

According to FIDE regulations, the title was granted after Hanh achieved three WGM norms and surpassed the Elo rating threshold of 2,300.

Hanh has been a regular member of Vietnam’s national team and previously won the Eastern Asia Chess Championships FIDE Zone 3.3 Open in 2019.

She has also represented the country at several Chess Olympiads.

Vietnam currently ranks 38th among 201 national federations worldwide, according to FIDE data.
