AIRO, a joint venture between Vietnamese food conglomerate Kido and Chinese partner Yuguang Tongchen, plans to produce around 200 AI-powered microdramas annually from next year as it expands into media, entertainment, and AI-driven commerce.

Kido holds a 51-percent stake in AIRO, which is expanding from AI applications in live-streaming, virtual characters, and TV commercial production into a broader media, entertainment, and commerce ecosystem.

AIRO's long-term goal is to become a media, entertainment, and commerce group capable of connecting international markets, with the company also targeting an initial public offering in 2030.

Tran Le Nguyen, CEO of Kido and chairman of AIRO, said the rapid evolution of AI and digital platforms is reshaping consumer behavior in both entertainment and shopping.

“We are not stopping at using AI for film production or visual effects. Our bigger goal is to build a comprehensive ecosystem of media, entertainment, and commerce,” Nguyen explained.

Under its new model, AIRO will operate across intellectual property (IP) development and exploitation, AI-powered microdrama production, content distribution, shows and concerts, artist management, feature-film production, commerce, and AI-powered marketing solutions.

AIRO is working with Yuguang Tongchen, a Chinese AI content tech company, to establish an AI studio in China’s Nanning, with a target capacity of around 20 microdramas per month.

For content development, AIRO plans to work with directors to create original IP and spin-off content instead of relying solely on licensed content with limited rights.

Such content will be distributed across multiple platforms such as Tencent, WeTV, HTV, FPT Play, and TV360.

Alongside entertainment, AIRO will integrate social commerce and e-commerce, turning films and live streams into sales channels supported by influencers and key opinion leaders.

Nguyen asserted that the model’s strength lies in generating revenue directly from IP and reinvesting it into the ecosystem.

By combining entertainment with commerce, AIRO aims to optimize production costs, unlock artist potential, and transform each piece of content into a commercial touchpoint.

Apart from film production, AIRO will provide AI-driven marketing services, including TV commercials, social media videos, and live-stream campaigns tailored for businesses.

Nguyen said the expansion aligns with Vietnam’s push to develop cultural industries and the digital economy.

Through its international partnerships, AIRO hopes to bring Vietnamese cultural content to global audiences.

“We want to turn digital cultural values into soft power, spreading Vietnamese stories, identity, and entertainment works worldwide,” Nguyen added.
