Vietnam and India premiered their first cinematic collaboration, ‘Love in Vietnam,’ on Tuesday at the third Da Nang Asian Film Festival (DANAFF III), drawing hundreds of viewers to a screening at the Ariyana International Convention Center.

Directed by Indian filmmaker Rahhat Shah Kazmi, the film was shot entirely in Da Nang City, central Vietnam and features a cross-cultural love story that blends elements of Vietnamese and Indian music, fashion, and setting.

‘Love in Vietnam’ follows Manav, a young Punjabi man sent to Vietnam by his uncle, where he falls in love with Linh, a mysterious Vietnamese artist.

A love triangle unfolds when Simmi, his childhood friend, arrives from India, leading to Linh’s disappearance and a dramatic revelation years later.

Audience members reacted enthusiastically during the screening, cheering as iconic Da Nang locations appeared on screen.

“I’m proud to take part in the project,” said lead Vietnamese actress Kha Ngan.

“The team worked hard, and I hope people will embrace the film.”

The DANAFF III is taking place in Da Nang from June 29 to July 5, featuring a diverse program, including competitive screenings, masterclasses, and a film project market aimed at supporting emerging filmmakers from Vietnam and Asia.

The festival is organized by the Vietnam Film Development Association and the Da Nang Department of Culture and Sports, with support from various local and international partners.
