At a meeting in Hanoi on Wednesday, Senior Lieutenant General Hoang Xuan Chien, Deputy Minister of National Defense, confirmed the invitations for these five countries to join the parade, which is scheduled for September 2 in Hanoi as part of the anniversary celebrations.
The ministry has also invited these countries, along with three others—Cuba, Kazakhstan, and Azerbaijan—to send their defense officials as representatives to attend the commemorative ceremonies.
Cuba has already confirmed its participation with the Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces to attend the celebrations.
Laos and Cambodia have likewise expressed support for sending troops to take part in the parade.
Deputy Minister Chien emphasized that the parade invitation reflects the traditional friendship, solidarity, and close ties between the Vietnamese people, the Vietnam People’s Army, and their longstanding friendly countries.
He added that it also demonstrates Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, and diversification, positioning the country as a trusted friend and partner to all nations.
Previously, at the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Reunification Day (April 30), held on Le Duan Boulevard in Ho Chi Minh City, military units from China, Laos, and Cambodia participated following invitations from the defense ministry.
