A first-of-its-kind national competition exclusively for domestic workers has been launched in Vietnam, aiming to elevate the profession and recognize the skills behind modern home services.

Dubbed 'Ong tranh tai' – which translates to 'Bees Competing' – the event was initiated by bTaskee, a household service platform.

The competition features four realistic rounds designed to test the core tasks of domestic work, including tool organization, garment ironing combined with problem-solving scenarios, team-based apartment cleaning, and solo hotel-standard room service.

Participants are judged on skills, speed, safety, and professionalism.

In addition to technical ability, the competition places strong emphasis on soft skills such as critical thinking and teamwork – essential attributes in today's high-quality service sector.

To ensure participants can focus on their performance, bTaskee is covering all expenses related to accommodation, travel, and living costs throughout the event.

Prior to the competition, contestants undergo intensive training in standardized workflows, customer service, and communication.

A bTaskee representative said the goal goes beyond identifying top performers.

The broader mission is to shift public perception about domestic work, highlighting it as a disciplined and professional field on par with other service industries.

Through the event, organizers hope to promote domestic work as a serious career path with clear development opportunities.

Complementing the competition, bTaskee is rolling out a series of professionalization initiatives, including a free vocational training center, the bMentor career advisory program, recurring benefits packages, and a tiered advancement system – from entry-level 'worker bees' to elite 'queen bees.'

High-performing contestants will receive official certification, advancement to senior collaborator status, and corresponding rewards.

In tandem with the competition, bTaskee has also launched a new at-home beauty service called bBeauty, offering three main service categories: hair care (including herbal shampooing, styling, and color retouching), professional makeup, and nail care.

"All bBeauty specialists are carefully selected and undergo professional training," a company spokesperson said.

"In the haircare division, we've formed a strategic partnership with L'Oréal, requiring staff to complete at least 720 training hours and earn an international certification.

"All tools and cosmetics used are traceable and sanitized after each session."

The dual initiatives reflect bTaskee's continued push to elevate both the standards and societal appreciation of domestic and personal care services in Vietnam.
