The system launch marked a major step in the country’s efforts to improve transparency, food safety, and competitiveness in both domestic and export markets.

The system is a digital platform designed to record, manage, and allow the public to look up origin information for agricultural, forestry, and fishery products throughout their entire lifecycle, which includes production, processing, transportation, and circulation in the market.

Through the platform, consumers can access clear and transparent information about the products they purchase.

By scanning a QR code issued by the Ministry of Public Security and affixed to products, consumers can view traceability information displayed on the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment’s official website at https://traceviet.mae.gov.vn

As an initial step, the agriculture ministry will pilot traceability for durian products from January 1 to June 30, 2026.

The pilot aims to build a centralized data repository for traceability by connecting and integrating sector-specific databases and digitally signed data from participating businesses, in line with regulatory requirements.

Currently, six durian-exporting companies are actively participating in the pilot program.

These firms are testing the system across the production and supply chain, issuing and attaching electronic authentication labels to durian shipments that meet traceability standards.

After the pilot phase, authorities and stakeholders will assess the system’s effectiveness, focusing on information accuracy, user convenience, costs, and overall benefits.

Based on the evaluation, technical aspects and operational procedures will be refined before expanding the system to other agricultural products.

The goal is to officially implement the traceability system nationwide starting July 1, 2026.

Addressing the launch event, Tran Duc Thang, Minister of Agriculture and Environment, stressed that the traceability system is not merely a technological solution but a modern management tool.

He said it will help combat trade fraud, counterfeit goods, and substandard products while promoting sustainable, responsible, and higher-value agricultural production.

According to Thang, in an increasingly competitive global market, the value of agricultural products no longer depends solely on output volume but on quality, transparency, and traceability.

“The system launched today will help enterprises, cooperatives, and farmers access digital technology more easily and at reasonable cost,” Thang said.

“It will strengthen market connectivity, expand export opportunities, and meet the increasingly strict requirements of demanding markets.”

He added that the ministry’s ultimate goal is to ensure Vietnamese consumers can soon use domestically produced agricultural, forestry, and fishery products that are safe and clean.

Following the durian pilot, the ministry plans to expand traceability to other agricultural products consumed domestically and exported abroad in the near future.
