Vietnam police use unmarked cars to catch expressway driving violations
Traffic police in Vietnam are using unmarked cars equipped with cameras to record violations on the Ho Chi Minh City-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway, aiming to reduce accidents on one of the country’s busiest routes.

On Sunday, an officer of a patrol team from the Ministry of Public Security’s Traffic Police Department said the team is focusing on dangerous behaviors such as drivers using phones while driving, changing lanes without signaling, stopping illegally, and failing to place warning signs.
At 3:47 pm the same day, officers recorded driver L.H.H., 30, from Can Tho City in southern Vietnam, holding and using a phone while driving on the expressway.
He was stopped shortly afterward and faces a fine between VND4 million (US$152) and VND6 million ($228), with four points deducted from his 12-point license.

Just minutes later, at 3:50 pm, another driver, L.T.D., 33, from Tay Ninh Province in the southern region, was caught committing the same violation and received the same penalty.
Police warned that using phones while driving at high speed is extremely dangerous.
Even a few seconds of distraction can cause vehicles to travel dozens of meters without control, increasing the risk of lane drifting, unsafe distances, or failure to react to sudden hazards.
Authorities stressed that crashes at expressway speeds often result in severe injuries or fatalities, as well as major property damage.
