According to Vietnam Railways, the expansion aims to simplify the ticket purchasing process and provide maximum convenience for passengers traveling between the two countries by rail.
The international passenger train service between Vietnam and China was officially resumed on May 25, 2025.
In May, 183 passengers used the service, with the number increasing to 1,323 in June.
Between July 1 and 16, there were 1,227 passengers.
The railway sector expects that expanding the ticket sales network to all stations nationwide, along with the ability to complete immigration procedures directly at international railway stations, will boost international rail travel.
Currently, Vietnam Railways operates the international passenger train MR1/T8702/Z6, departing daily from Gia Lam Station in Hanoi at 9:20 pm.
The train travels from Vietnam to China, stopping at Pingxiang, Chongzuo, and ending at Nanning Station.
On Tuesdays and Fridays, passengers can also purchase tickets to Guilin North, Hengyang, Changsha, Zhengzhou, and Beijing West in China.

To purchase tickets, passengers can go to any railway station in Vietnam with a valid physical passport and visa.
Upon purchase, they will receive a 'payment receipt' as proof of transaction.
Passengers must then bring their passport, visa, and payment receipt to the departure station to exchange for the official 'ticket booklet,' which serves as the actual train ticket for the international journey.
At the departure station, railway staff will verify the documents and exchange the payment receipt for the ticket booklet.
Passengers are advised to arrive at least one hour before departure to complete the ticket issuance process.
Vietnam Railways will not accommodate late arrivals after the train’s departure time.
It is important to note that e-visas are not valid for rail exit procedures from Vietnam.
Passengers must use a valid physical visa to travel on the international train.
