The measures, aimed at enhancing aviation safety during the holiday, which runs four days starting August 30, have been applied nationwide since August 20 and will remain in place through September 4.
Under Level 1 security rules, all airports and air traffic service facilities will deploy additional personnel in restricted areas, conduct handheld metal detector screenings, and visually inspect seven percent of individuals, objects, and vehicles entering these zones.
Passenger identity checks will also be tightened at check-in counters and security points, with random inspections of 15 percent of travelers who pass through walk-through detectors without triggering alarms.
Carry-on and checked baggage that undergo X-ray screening without showing suspicious signs will also face additional manual checks at the same rate.
Public access to passenger terminals will be restricted as well.
During days before and after the key travel period, airports will still reinforce patrols, step up camera surveillance in public areas, tighten control over unclaimed baggage, and conduct frequent inspections of trash bins, restrooms, and secluded corners.
The heightened security comes as airports are expected to see a surge in both domestic and international passengers during the holiday period.
At Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi alone, daily peaks could reach around 110,000 passengers and 638 flights, up about 20 percent from the same period in 2024, according to the airport authority.
