This marks the first time Vietnam has entered the list, reflecting its efforts to improve living conditions, upgrade infrastructure, and strengthen healthcare systems, alongside the advantage of low living costs.
The ranking comes as more retirees in Europe, particularly France, seek long-term residence abroad to enjoy favorable climates and maximize pension income.
The study evaluated 12 key criteria, with the cost of living accounting for 20 percent of the total score.
Paul Delahoutre, founder of this site, said that living abroad can help retirees save between 15 and 50 percent on daily expenses compared to France.
Other important factors include climate, healthcare quality, safety, access to services, transportation, and tax policies for transferring pensions.
Vietnam placed ninth, praised as a 'balanced' destination combining affordability with improved infrastructure and strong long-term growth potential.
Portugal retained the top spot thanks to living costs about 15 percent lower than France and advanced infrastructure.
Spain ranked second, followed by Greece, Thailand, Mauritius, Morocco, Tunisia, Senegal, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
Experts advise retirees to conduct on-the-ground surveys before relocating to assess community integration and safety.
Vietnam’s inclusion in the ranking is seen as a positive signal, underscoring its growing appeal to the international community.
