The Vietnam Stock Exchange (VNX), which operates the Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi stock exchanges, reported VND1.774 trillion (US$67.7 million) in pre-tax profit in January-June 2026, up 38 percent year on year.

VNX recently released its consolidated financial statement for the second quarter of 2026, showing that gross profit increased 37 percent year on year to VND2.225 trillion ($85.1 million) as the cost of goods sold accounted for only a small proportion of revenue.

Administrative expenses rose 30 percent to VND523 billion ($20 million).

VNX posted an after-tax profit of VND1.419 trillion ($54.2 million), up 38 percent from the same period last year.

According to VNX, securities trading services accounted for the bulk of its revenue, generating VND2.270 trillion ($86.7 million), or 93.5 percent of the total.

Other revenue sources included service provision at VND65 billion ($2.5 million), professional operations at VND27 billion ($1 million), securities listing services at VND16 billion ($611,300), and bidding and auction fees at VND11 billion ($420,269).

Despite the strong increase in profit, VNX's total assets fell 11.6 percent to VND4.178 trillion ($159.7 million), mainly due to a decline in cash from VND1.342 trillion ($51.3 million) to VND863 billion ($33 million).

VNX's profit growth came as Vietnam's stock market maintained an upward trend in the first half of the year.

As of the end of June 2026, the total market capitalization of listed stocks on the Ho Chi Minh City Stock Exchange, Hanoi Stock Exchange, and the Unlisted Public Company Market exceeded VND10.57 quadrillion ($404 billion), up 6 percent from the end of last year and equivalent to around 82.3 percent of Vietnam's 2025 GDP.

Market liquidity remained high, with average daily trading value reaching nearly VND29.3 trillion ($1.1 billion).

By the end of June, the number of securities accounts had reached 13.43 million, up 13 percent from the end of 2025.

VNX has charter capital of VND3 trillion ($114.7 million) and is wholly owned by the Ministry of Finance.
