The two ministers welcomed the recent upgrade of Vietnam-Thailand relations to a comprehensive strategic partnership, affirming strong political trust and expanding collaboration across key sectors such as trade, investment, tourism, education, science and technology, transport, and people-to-people exchanges.
They recalled their meeting at the 58th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Malaysia earlier this month, reaffirming their commitment to implementing the outcomes of the fourth Vietnam-Thailand Joint Cabinet Meeting held in May.
They agreed to soon develop an action program for implementing the comprehensive strategic partnership during the 2026-30 period with concrete initiatives.
They also concurred that both nations will soon form a joint working group to execute the ‘three connections' strategy and explore emerging areas such as innovation, digital economy, green economy, renewable energy, and energy transition.

Minister Sangiampongsa highlighted the robust growth of bilateral economic and trade cooperation and called for Vietnam’s continued support in resolving investment challenges faced by Thai enterprises.
The two countries aim to raise two-way trade to US$25 billion in a more balanced and sustainable manner.
On tourism, both ministers pledged to promote new models of cooperation, including ASEAN regional connectivity initiatives, and strengthen sister-province relationships and people-to-people links.
The Thai foreign minister also briefed his Vietnamese counterpart on the July 28 ceasefire agreement reached between Thailand and Cambodia, mediated by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in his capacity as 2025 ASEAN Chair.
He said that the ceasefire agreement took effect from Tuesday and affirmed Thailand’s commitment to resolving disputes peacefully.
