Between Wednesday and Thursday, Viettel’s drones completed 200 supply flights and 30 reconnaissance missions to help rescuers identify safe access routes to isolated areas in Nga My Commune.

Late Wednesday, a drone was dispatched to deliver fever medication and other supplies to a family with a four-month-old baby suffering seizures, it added.

The drones have a maximum range of five kilometers, can carry up to 50 kg, operate at altitudes of up to 100 meters, and are capable of 24-hour operation with fast battery replacement.

Viettel said the use of drones in disaster relief shortens response time and reflects the company’s efforts to apply technology in support of emergency and community needs.

Widespread flooding hit Thai Nguyen Province after days of heavy rain linked to the remnants of storm Matmo.
