Vietnam has welcomed the announcement of a peace deal between the United States and Iran, urging both sides to sign and fully implement it soon, paving the way for a comprehensive and sustainable solution to bring peace and stability to the Middle East, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The foreign ministry's spokesperson Pham Thu Hang made the remarks in Hanoi on Monday in response to reporters’ questions on Vietnam’s reaction to the agreement.

“Vietnam welcomes the announcement by the U.S. and Iran that they have reached a peace agreement. We highly appreciate efforts to advance the agreement,” Hang said.

“We call on relevant parties to soon sign and fully implement the agreement, creating favorable conditions for a comprehensive and sustainable solution that brings peace and stability to the Middle East, including the Strait of Hormuz, based on international law and the United Nations Charter, for the benefit of regional countries and for peace, stability, cooperation, and development in the region and the world,” she said.

According to Reuters, U.S. Vice President JD Vance appeared on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ program on June 15 (U.S. time), saying that an agreement to end the conflict between the U.S. and Iran was signed ‘digitally’ on June 14, ahead of an official signing ceremony scheduled for June 19 in Geneva, Switzerland.

He said the specific details of the agreement would be made public this week, adding that Iran’s foreign minister and the speaker of its parliament would represent Tehran at the ceremony, while the U.S. has not yet announced its delegation.

Meanwhile, CNN reported that the signing may take place online due to logistical challenges in arranging an in-person meeting.

The development comes after more than 15 weeks of conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran that began on February 28.

Although full details of the deal have not been officially released, key elements have emerged through statements from leaders of the two countries and mediators, including Pakistan.

Under the reported terms, the two sides agreed to an immediate and permanent ceasefire on all fronts, including the Israel–Lebanon theater.

They also agreed that a memorandum to end the conflict is expected to be formally signed in Geneva on June 19.

Following the signing, the Strait of Hormuz is expected to reopen, and a naval blockade imposed by the U.S. on Iranian ports will be lifted.

Within 60 days after that, Washington and Tehran are expected to hold further negotiations on more complex issues, including Iran’s nuclear program and U.S. sanctions.
