On Sunday afternoon, Hoang Thi My Tam, 22, took gold in the women's 55kg individual kumite event after defeating Iran's Saadati Fateme 5-0 in the final.
Tam had earlier won bouts against opponents from Nepal, Japan, and China.

Vietnam also secured gold in the women's team kata event.
Athletes Bui Ngoc Nhi, Hoang Thi Thu Uyen, Nguyen Ngoc Tram, and Nguyen Thi Phuong scored 42.10 points to beat China's 41.70 in the final.
It was the country's first team kata gold in a decade.

Former national team member Do Thi Thu Ha, who won gold in 2015, coached the team to victory after becoming head coach in 2024.
The team added a bronze in individual kata through Nguyen Ngoc Tram and later claimed a third gold in the women's team kumite event with a 2-0 win over Kazakhstan.
Vietnam ended the tournament with three golds and one bronze, ranking third overall behind Kazakhstan and Japan.
