Pham Nhat Vuong, chairman of Vingroup, Vietnam's largest private conglomerate, and his wife hold a combined fortune of about US$40.6 billion, accounting for about 74.5 percent of the total wealth of Vietnam's eight billionaires, according to U.S.-based business magazine Forbes.

Forbes' Real-Time Billionaires ranking currently lists eight Vietnamese billionaires with fortunes of at least $1 billion each.

Pham Nhat Vuong, 58, chairman of Vingroup, tops the list with an estimated fortune of $36.5 billion, while his wife, Pham Thu Huong, 57, a Vingroup vice chairwoman, ranks second with about $4.1 billion.

The couple therefore holds a combined fortune of about $40.6 billion, representing roughly 74.5 percent of the total fortune of Vietnam's eight billionaires.

Following Vuong and Huong in the ranking by wealth are Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, chairwoman of Vietjet Air, with $4 billion; Pham Thuy Hang, vice chairwoman of Vingroup and Huong's younger sister, with $2.9 billion; Tran Dinh Long, chairman of Hoa Phat, with $2.5 billion; Ho Hung Anh, chairman of Techcombank, with $2.3 billion; Ngo Chi Dung, chairman of VPBank, with $1.2 billion; and Nguyen Dang Quang, chairman of Masan, with $1 billion.

The combined fortune of these six billionaires is about $13.9 billion, or 34.2 percent of the wealth held by the couple.

In other words, Vuong and his wife's total wealth is more than 2.9 times that of the other six billionaires.

In particular, with a net worth of $4.1 billion, Huong is now Vietnam's richest woman, according to Forbes.

The figures are based on Forbes’ Real-Time Billionaires ranking, so the billionaires’ fortunes and rankings can change in real time as stock prices, exchange rates and the value of assets used in Forbes’ estimates fluctuate.

Forbes said its ranking tracks daily changes in the fortunes of the world's wealthiest people, with the value of stakes in listed companies fluctuating along with stock market movements.

As of Sunday, the world's richest person is Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, with an estimated fortune of $873.1 billion.

He is followed by Google co-founder Larry Page with $283 billion, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos with $273.5 billion, Google co-founder Sergey Brin with $261.1 billion, and Dell Technologies founder Michael Dell with $240.4 billion, according to Forbes.
