Vietnamese fans ranked most passionate at ASEAN Cup 2026

The Vietnamese team attracted an average crowd of 25,599 spectators per match, the highest among the tournament’s 10 participating teams.

Indonesia ranked second with 24,875 spectators per game, followed by Cambodia with 17,169.

Thailand placed fourth with an average attendance of 14,532, while Malaysia drew 11,389 fans per match.

At the other end of the table, Timor-Leste registered the lowest figure, with an average of just 192 spectators per game.

However, the statistics should be interpreted with caution, as they appear to be based on total attendance at each venue rather than the actual number of supporters of a particular team.

For example, Vietnam's matches against Singapore and Cambodia at My Dinh Stadium in Hanoi attracted crowds of 31,569 and 19,628, respectively.

The reported average of 25,599 closely matches the mean attendance of those two fixtures.

While crowd figures at home matches include supporters of both teams, the difference between total attendance and the number of Vietnamese fans is likely limited, given the relatively small number of visiting supporters attending ASEAN Cup matches in Vietnam.

The figures also do not take into account Vietnamese supporters attending away games.

Large numbers of Vietnamese fans traveled to Pakansari Stadium in Indonesia to cheer on the national team, continuing a long-standing tradition of following Vietnam to matches across Southeast Asia.

As a result, the actual number of Vietnamese supporters at the ASEAN Cup 2026 may have been even higher than the attendance figures suggest.
