Vietnamese Muay marked a historic milestone as female fighter Huynh Ha Huu Hieu claimed the world championship title for the second consecutive time at the Muaythai 2025 Senior World Championships in Turkey, the Vietnam Muay national team’s coaching board announced on Saturday evening.

Hieu faced Turkish athlete Gamze Korkmaz in the final of the under-45kg weight class.

She secured a spectacular knockout victory in the first round.

Small in stature, agile, and technically superior to Korkmaz, Hieu spent most of the first round analyzing her opponent.

With 24 seconds left in the round, she delivered a powerful left kick to the abdomen, causing the opponent to collapse.

Prior to the tournament, the Vietnamese Muaythai team focused their training at the National Sports Center in Ho Chi Minh City under the guidance of coaches Huynh Ngoc Anh and Nguyen Phu Hien.

At the Muaythai 2025 Senior World Championships, taking place from May 22 to June 1, other Vietnamese athletes, including Bui Hai Linh, Nguyen Hoang Son, and Pham Thi Bich Lieu, also won silver medals.

Bronze medals were claimed by Nguyen Thi Huong, Nguyen Hoang Minh, Cao Thi Thanh Mau, Tran Thi Anh Tuyet, and Nguyen Hoang Son.

The Vietnamese Muaythai team will return home on Monday.

They will continue preparations for the 2025 Asian Muaythai Championships, scheduled to take place from June 20 to 26 in Thai Nguyen Province, northern Vietnam.
