Vietnamese institute, Belgian school launch psychomotor training program to support child development

The program, launched on Monday in Ho Chi Minh City in partnership with Belgium’s Aucouturier Psychomotor Practice School (EBPPA), will run from August 2026 to August 2029.

The Aucouturier psychomotor practice supports child development through body movement, sensory experiences, play, and relationships with caregivers.

The training is designed for professionals with at least a bachelor's degree who work in healthcare, psychology, education, or offer direct care to young children.

Thirty trainees will attend two in-person sessions each year in August and December, supplemented by online supervision.

The curriculum combines theory, individualized training, and supervised practice.

Participants will learn to observe and interact empathetically with children, applying psychomotor techniques to support emotional and physical growth.

The training will progress over three years, with the first year focusing on psychomotor foundations, the second on supporting children with mild difficulties, and the final year on intensive practice with children facing moderate to severe developmental challenges.

Nguyen Thanh Hiep, chairman of the institute’s management council, said the program is designed to build a new generation of specialists trained to international standards.

"Working directly with children’s health and development requires systematic training, continuous practice, and professional supervision," he added.

Danielle Michaux, a Belgian Aucouturier psychomotor trainer and EBPPA representative, said the program will follow European standards, with ongoing evaluation and mentorship.

Belgian experts will continue to provide training and supervision.

Both sides aim to establish a dedicated Aucouturier psychomotor training center in Vietnam, while maintaining links with training networks in Europe.
