At around 11:00 am on Tuesday, Mai Thi Huong, 49, residing in Xuan Hoi Commune, Nghi Xuan District, accidentally dropped the cash while returning home from the market.

Despite retracing her steps, she could not find the money and reported the loss to the commune police agency.

Officers immediately launched a search and shared the information through a local Zalo group to alert residents.

Around 11:40 am the same day, Hoang Ngoc Giang, another resident of Xuan Hoi, reported that his son, Hoang Duc Duy — a fifth-grade student at Xuan Hoi Elementary School — had discovered the money while walking along the road.

Giang and his son then brought the cash to police, who confirmed it matched the amount Huong had lost.

Grateful to have the money returned, Huong expressed her appreciation in a thank-you letter to Duy for his honesty and praised the local police for their prompt and caring response.
