An official from the provincial Department of Education and Training on Friday confirmed that police are investigating the incident reported to have occurred in class 2A2 at Trung Nhi Elementary School, Phuc Yen Ward.
The official added the department will provide further details once the investigation concludes.
Earlier, social media posts accused a teacher identified as N.T.S. of forcing students to lick the classroom floor, sparking public concern.
According to a report from the school, after learning of the allegations online, administrators met with the teacher and requested a written explanation.
The teacher stated that during a moral education lesson on Tuesday afternoon, she noticed litter in the classroom and asked students to pick it up.
Afterward, she encouraged the class to suggest ways to keep the classroom clean.
Students reportedly proposed several ideas, including “using their tongues to lick” and “using their noses to inhale.”
Some students then bent down, and a few quickly carried out the action.
She said she did not stop the behavior quickly enough, which led to the misunderstanding.
To ensure objectivity and protect both students and staff, the school board decided to temporarily remove S. from teaching duties and assign her to manage school equipment until the investigation is complete.
