The project, led by Bac Ninh Museum No. 2 in partnership with media firm Sunny Vietnam, aims to market Bac Ninh's heritage sites and festivals on social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.

It publishes curated videos showcasing the province's cultural and historical sites, traditional craft villages, major festivals, folk games, eco-tourism areas and accommodation options.

Local tourism authorities said Bac Ninh received more than 5.7 million visitors in the first 10 months of 2025, including 375,000 foreigners.

Tourism revenue was estimated at VND5.5 trillion (US$208.7 million), exceeding its annual plan.

At the launch ceremony, Nguyen Van Dap, deputy director of Bac Ninh's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said the province was expanding cultural tourism products and digitizing heritage sites to build a brand as "a land of heritage and creativity."

Dap emphasized Bac Ninh has a large concentration of cultural heritage, with nearly 5,000 historical and cultural sites, including 1,415 that are officially listed, and more than 1,300 traditional festivals.

The province is home to seven intangible cultural heritage elements recognized by UNESCO, and two pagodas — Bo Da and Vinh Nghiem — that form part of a UNESCO-recognized complex.

He said Bac Ninh would continue restoring traditional festivals, developing UNESCO-listed cultural assets, and using digital tools to store and promote relics, artefacts and rituals.

Each platform in the ‘Go to Bac Ninh’ project will target different groups of users to broaden outreach and help boost Bac Ninh's visibility on social media and support sustainable tourism development, officials said.

After the launch, delegates and guests rode the themed ‘5 Gates’ train from Hanoi to the old Kinh Bac region in Bac Ninh, stopping at heritage sites such as Do Temple and Ngoc Well, and attended quan ho (northern traditional music) performances by local singers.

Kinh Bac is an old name for a large area in northern Vietnam, associated with several legends and is considered the cradle of the great Viet civilization.

Linh Trang, a visitor from Hanoi, said the trip offered a mix of Hanoi nostalgia and Kinh Bac culture.

"The most special part was listening to quan ho on the crescent lake at Do Temple," she said.
