The wind power plant is designed with a capacity of 50MW and is expected to be completed before December 31, 2027.
Speaking at the ceremony, Huynh Chi Nguyen, vice-chairman of the Ca Mau People’s Committee, said that after recent administrative mergers, Ca Mau has gained significant advantages in developing a marine economy and renewable energy.
With a long coastline and favorable wind conditions, the locality is considered to have strong potential for wind power development.
Nguyen added that the province has identified clean energy as one of the key drivers of economic growth, contributing to energy security and green growth targets.
In the 2026–30 period, Ca Mau aims to achieve an average annual electricity production growth rate of over 10.4 percent.
The locality is focusing on developing renewable energy sources such as wind power, solar power, and hydrogen, while also investing in the improvement of power transmission infrastructure.
Once operational, the Japan–Bac Lieu Wind Power Plant will add clean electricity to the national grid, create jobs, increase budget revenue, and contribute to local socio-economic development.
