Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of Singaporean firms on Tuesday, chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Truong Canh Tuyen highlighted the city’s growing investment potential following its merger with Hau Giang and Soc Trang Provinces in July 2025.
Singapore remains one of Can Tho’s key foreign investment partners.
Until now, 12 Singapore-funded projects have been developed in the city, with a combined pledged capital of nearly US$320 million, he said.
Notably, Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park (VSIP) Joint Venture decided to develop an industrial park in Can Tho in 2022.
The project covers nearly 300 hectares and has a total capital of some $170 million.
The infrastructure development of the project is currently being accelerated, while efforts are underway to attract secondary investors.
During the meeting, Tuyen encouraged Singaporean companies to continue conducting surveys and exploring investment opportunities in several priority sectors, including science-technology, innovation and digital transformation, which the city views as a new driver of economic growth.
He also urged Singaporean investors to engage in green and circular economy initiatives, along with greenhouse gas emission reduction projects, particularly in the agricultural sector.
The third area invited for investment is linked to logistics centers, seaports, supply chain development, and deep processing of agricultural products.
The fourth priority is the development of smart and modern urban areas, a sector that Tuyen said the city ‘urgently needs.’
The fifth area is human resource development and workforce training.
Tuyen emphasized that the municipal administration and all relevant departments and agencies are committed to creating favorable conditions for investors.
As part of their visit, the Singaporean business delegation was set to conduct field surveys at the VSIP Can Tho Industrial Park and several other locations across the city on Tuesday afternoon.
