According to the municipal Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, fireworks are set to illuminate the night sky over the Mekong Delta city on February 16 as part of a broader Tet celebration.

Specifically, high-altitude fireworks will be launched at Song Hau Park in Cai Khe Ward.

In addition, low-altitude fireworks are scheduled in Vi Tan Ward, formerly part of Hau Giang Province, and Phu Loi Ward, formerly under Soc Trang Province.

The three locations are intended to serve residents across different areas, helping reduce crowd concentration in the city center while still allowing wide public access to the celebrations.

Beyond the fireworks displays, Can Tho will set up a 310-meter-long flower street along Vo Van Tan - Nguyen Thai Hoc Streets in Ninh Kieu Ward, one of the city’s central areas.

The flower street is scheduled to open to the public from February 14 through February 21, allowing residents and tourists to enjoy the displays throughout the peak holiday period, including the days before and after Lunar New Year’s Day.

In addition, to promote trade, cultural exchange, and the consumption of ornamental plants during Tet, the city will organize a spring flower market at Tay Do Square in Hung Phu Ward.

The market is expected to feature more than 350 stalls offering flowers, ornamental plants, bonsai trees, and Tet decorations from Can Tho and neighboring Mekong Delta provinces.

Organizers said vendors participating in the spring flower market will be exempt from all fees related to stall rental, electricity and water use, in an effort to support traders and encourage a vibrant marketplace atmosphere.

The spring flower market is slated to run from February 7 until the morning of February 16, allowing shoppers to purchase flowers and decorations right up to Lunar New Year’s Eve.

Vietnam's Lunar New Year, or Tet, is the country's most important holiday and typically involves extended travel and family gatherings. It is due in mid-February and lasts for about a week.
