Vietnam’s Can Tho to host food fair featuring chef Martin Yan

Themed ‘Reunion Moon - Flavors of Tay Do,’ the food fair will be held at Ninh Kieu Pedestrian Street from 9:00 am to 10:30 pm daily, the municipal Department of Industry and Trade told a press briefing on Thursday.

The event will be organized as part of the city’s 2026 Shopping and Food Week.

The fair will feature more than 100 booths showcasing food, One Commune, One Product (OCOP)-certified products, commercial goods, and hands-on workshops.

Designed around the cultural atmosphere of the Mid-Autumn Festival, the event will offer visitors and local residents an opportunity to sample specialties from Vietnam’s three regions as well as international cuisines, while enjoying shopping and festive activities celebrating the full moon.

Vietnam's Mid-Autumn Festival, known locally as Tet Trung Thu (Children’s Festival), is a traditional festival held on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, falling on September 25 this year.

Organizers said the fair is meant to create a space for recreation, cultural experiences, and family reunions during the Mid-Autumn Festival.

It is also expected to promote Can Tho’s signature products, cuisine and cultural heritage, enrich the city’s tourism offerings, stimulate commercial activity, and enhance its appeal to visitors.

A major highlight will be the appearance of chef Martin Yan, the internationally celebrated culinary figure best known for the popular television program 'Yan Can Cook.'

During the event, Yan will present a series of live culinary demonstrations and interact with audiences while sharing his philosophy ‘Yan Can Cook, So Can You.’

His participation is expected to create a bridge between international culinary traditions and the distinctive flavors of the city.

Beyond food, the fair will treat visitors to a series of workshops showcasing traditional folk culture and handicrafts such as Bat Trang pottery making, rice-paper production, folk toy making, and traditional calligraphy.
