The park’s management board and IUCN held a ceremony to mark the recognition on Saturday.
Con Dao is the 101st site globally and the third in Vietnam to join the list, after Van Long Wetland Nature Reserve in Ninh Binh Province and Cat Tien National Park in Dong Nai Province.
The Green List measures conservation effectiveness based on governance, planning, management, and conservation outcomes.
Con Dao met 17 standards and 50 indicators.
The park covers 5,890 hectares of forest and a marine area hosting more than 1,725 species.
It hosts endangered species including sea turtles, dugongs, and the Con Dao black squirrel (Ratufa bicolor).
Between 2023 and November 2025, more than 2,100 female turtles laid over 6,300 nests in Con Dao, with more than 436,000 hatchlings released.
Bui Minh Thanh, deputy chairman of Ho Chi Minh City’s People’s Committee, said the listing confirms the park’s effective management.
Con Dao also holds Ramsar, Sea Turtle Conservation Network, and ASEAN Heritage Park designations.
