The directive, sent to the ministers of Public Security, Construction, Home Affairs, and Finance, as well as the chairman of the Binh Duong People’s Committee, followed a deadly workplace accident at a workshop under renovation inside the Dat Cuoc Industrial Park in Bac Tan Uyen District.
The incident occurred around 10:30 am on Thursday when a metal floor being dismantled collapsed. Everyone attempted to flee, but three men were unable to escape and were crushed.
Two of the victims died at the scene, and one passed away en route to the hospital.
On behalf of the Vietnamese government, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Deputy PM Tran Hong Ha extended condolences to the victims’ families and directed authorities to urgently determine the cause, identify any violations, and hold accountable those responsible.
The directive also emphasized the need to strengthen labor safety inspections and prevent similar incidents.
The Ministry of Public Security was ordered to ensure the provincial police unit cooperate with other agencies in investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Construction was asked to coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs and local authorities to review regulations and improve workplace safety standards.
Following the fatal incident, Bui Minh Tri, vice-chairman of the provincial administration, visited the site to oversee recovery efforts and later met with the victims’ families, offering support of VND95 million (US$3,700) per family.
