The biannual Top500 ranking evaluates high-performance computing (HPC) systems using the Linpack benchmark, which measures a system’s ability to perform complex numerical calculations per second, expressed in floating-point operations per second (Flops).
In the June 2025 edition, FPT’s AI factories located in Japan and Vietnam ranked 36th and 38th, respectively.
The facilities, powered by NVIDIA H200 Tensor Core GPU SXM5 chips, position FPT as the leading provider of commercial AI Cloud services in Japan, the company said.
The Japan-based AI factory comprises 146,304 processing cores, delivering a performance of 49.85 petaflops (PFlops), while the Vietnam-based factory includes 142,240 cores with 46.65 PFlops, according to FPT.
Both systems utilize InfiniBand NDR400 networking, enabling scalable deployments from a single GPU to hundreds of parallel-processing servers.
The architecture is designed for high throughput and low latency in large-scale AI and HPC applications.
Launched in November 2024, FPT’s AI Factory model has been adopted by technology firms including LandingAI to develop advanced AI solutions, FPT said.
The company plans to build three additional AI factories globally within the next five years as part of its strategy to make Vietnam a regional leader in AI infrastructure.
The Top500 ranking, established in 1993 by three HPC researchers, is considered a benchmark for evaluating computing performance, system design, and AI readiness by governments, academic institutions, and enterprises worldwide.
FPT’s inclusion in the 65th edition of the list highlights the technical strength and global service capability of its AI infrastructure, the company said.
The milestone also marks Vietnam’s debut among the world’s top 15 AI nations, alongside the United States, China, Japan, Germany, and France.
