Vietnam's Ha Tinh approves $298mn wind power projects

The projects, named Ky Anh 1, Ky Anh 2, Ky Anh 3 and Ky Anh 4, will be built in Ky Van, Ky Lac, Ky Hoa and Ky Thuong communes, according to a statement from the provincial People's Committee.

The wind farms will have a combined installed capacity of 225 megawatts (MW), featuring 45 turbines and generating an estimated 591.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually for the national grid.

Ky Anh 1, Ky Anh 2, and Ky Anh 4 will be developed by a consortium of TTA Vietnam Construction Investment JSC, No One Land Real Estate Investment JSC, and Dat Viet Energy Investment and Services JSC.

Ky Anh 1 will have a capacity of 65 MW and require investment of about VND2.3 trillion ($88.1 million), while Ky Anh 2 will have a capacity of 50 MW with investment of around VND1.69 trillion ($64.6 million).

Ky Anh 4 will add 60 MW of capacity and require approximately VND2 trillion ($76.7 million) in investment.

Ky Anh 3, with a planned capacity of 50 MW and investment capital of VND1.8 trillion ($68.7 million), will be developed by a separate consortium including TTA Vietnam Construction Investment JSC, No One Land Real Estate Investment JSC, Ha Tinh Cau Treo Investment and Import-Export JSC, and CASABLANCA Vietnam JSC.

The projects will require a combined investment of VND7.81 trillion ($298 million), with 20 percent funded by investors and the remainder financed by domestic credit institutions.

All four projects will operate for 50 years from the date land-use rights are allocated or leased by the state.

Investors are expected to complete capital contributions by the third quarter of 2026 and finalize land-related and legal procedures between August 2026 and February 2027.

Construction of supporting infrastructure is scheduled to begin in early 2027, followed by installation and commissioning of the wind farms.

The projects are expected to enter commercial operation within 22 months after land allocation or lease agreements are completed.

Provincial authorities said the projects would help diversify Vietnam’s electricity sources, support emissions reduction efforts, and contribute to the country’s energy transition goals.

The wind farm cluster is also expected to strengthen Ha Tinh’s position as a renewable energy hub in central Vietnam while helping meet growing electricity demand and supporting the country’s target of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
