During the closure, the commune carried out landscaping improvements, cleaned pathways, removed unnecessary items, and upgraded the electrical wiring system to better illuminate the cave.

The enhancements allow visitors to fully appreciate the cave’s mysterious and poetic beauty.

“We have reopened Mo So Cave and, for now, visitors will not be charged an entrance fee,” said Tran Binh Trong, chairman of the Kien Luong Commune People's Committee.

“To ensure security and order, a management and protection team has been assigned to the site.

“Any unauthorized collection of fees from tourists will be dealt with strictly.”

Mo So Cave, also known as the Mo So Mountain Historical and Scenic Site, is a mixed heritage complex that combines revolutionary historical relics and former resistance bases used during the wars against French and American forces, alongside ecological heritage features such as mangrove forests and a spectacular limestone mountain system.

The cave features a network of interconnected passages, dramatic limestone cliffs, and stalactites of various shapes, making it one of the area's most distinctive natural attractions.

The venue has drawn growing numbers of visitors in recent years.

In August 2024, the former Kien Giang Province, now part of An Giang Province, approved a master plan covering more than 136 hectares to preserve and promote the historical and scenic values of the Mo So Mountain site.

The plan also identified multiple cases of illegal land occupation within the protected area by local households.

Authorities in the current Kien Luong Commune said they will review the origins of the disputed land and implement relocation measures according to a roadmap, while ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of residents.

The commune also plans to complete procedures to attract qualified investors to develop Mo So into a distinctive tourism destination linked with nearby attractions such as Hang Pagoda and Phu Tu Islet, creating a broader tourism network for visitors to the area.
