The administration of Hue City, central Vietnam on Thursday announced the revocation of land allocated for the Hue Golf Complex project in Thuy Duong Ward, Huong Thuy Town due to continued delays.

According to the announcement, Thien An JSC, the project developer, is allowed to continue using the allocated land plot for up to 24 months from the date the project is officially terminated.

During this period, Thien An is responsible for handling all property and assets tied to the land.

If the company fails to complete asset disposal within this timeframe, the city will reclaim the land without any compensation for land or attached property.

The Hue City People’s Committee assigned the municipal Department of Agriculture and Environment to take full responsibility for the legal validity and accuracy of the documentation and appraisal process related to the project.

The revoked project spans over 78 hectares with a registered investment of approximately VND1.885 trillion (US$72.6 million).

More than 58 hectares had already undergone compensation procedures and were issued land-use certificates, while the remaining 20 hectares were still pending lease documentation.

Initially licensed in 2007, the project has faced multiple deadline extensions, most recently in 2021.

Its key features, including an 18-hole golf course, a clubhouse, an operations center, and a luxury villa complex, were originally slated for completion by the end of 2023.

However, work on the project remains unfinished as of now.
