Authorities in Vietnam’s Lam Dong Province on Tuesday inaugurated the province’s first solid waste treatment plant capable of producing clean soil for agricultural use.

Located in Di Linh District, the Lien Dam solid waste treatment plant is invested in by Green Saigon Co., Ltd. and covers 21.38 hectares with a total investment of VND291 billion (US$11.19 million).

The facility has a designed processing capacity of 350 metric tons of waste per day and night.

The newly operational phase—part of the project’s first stage—occupies over 18 hectares and can handle 150 metric tons of waste daily.

Investment for this stage totaled VND142 billion ($5.46 million).

The plant comprises nine main components, including a household waste sorting line, incinerators for industrial and domestic waste, a non-fired brick production system, and a wastewater treatment unit.

Ngo Pa Ri, chairman of the Green Saigon board, said the plant had completed trial operations and is expected to run at full capacity within the next month.

Waste transported from the Gung Re landfill in Di Linh District will be processed into non-fired bricks and clean soil, which will be packaged and sold for agricultural use or organic fertilizer production.

Future plans at the Lien Dam plant include plastic recycling and the development of an experimental tree garden, supported initially by Green Saigon’s Da Phuoc plant in Ho Chi Minh City.
