Vietnam’s largest submarine cable operational

ADC offers a maximum capacity of 50Tbps, which is 125 percent greater than the combined capacity of Vietnam's five existing international submarine cables: IA, AAE-1, APG, AAG, and SMW-3.

Stretching roughly 9,800 kilometers, the cable links seven countries and territories: Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, Singapore, and Japan. The system also delivers faster speeds than its predecessors.

Unlike earlier systems, ADC directly connects to all three of Asia's major Internet hubs: Singapore, Hong Kong, and Japan.

Initially, Viettel will use part of the cable's capacity to improve international connectivity, address rising data traffic, and enhance Internet service quality for customers.

The launch of ADC strengthens Viettel's backup connection capacity, increases the number of international submarine cables serving Vietnam, and helps ensure more reliable connectivity during future undersea cable disruptions.

Viettel Group owns the entire Vietnam branch of the system and the landing station in Quy Nhon City, Binh Dinh Province. The company also holds part of the main international segment. Viettel Networks is in charge of operations.

The ADC project cost US$290 million and is a joint effort by nine leading telecom firms: Viettel (Vietnam), SoftBank (Japan), Tata Communications (India), Singtel (Singapore), China Telecommunications Corporation, China Telecom Global, China Unicom (China), National Telecom (Thailand), and PLDT (the Philippines). Viettel is the only Vietnamese investor involved.
