The Party chief, his spouse, and the Vietnamese delegation are paying an official visit to Russia and attend the parade from Thursday to Sunday at the invitation of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The ceremony welcomed over 20 heads of state, government leaders, and international delegations, including war veterans from around the world.
For the first time, the Vietnam People's Army sent a contingent of 68 officers and soldiers to participate in the parade.
The red Vietnamese flag with a yellow star flew alongside those of Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, and other countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States at the iconic Red Square, stirring pride among the Vietnamese community in Russia and citizens back home.

The Vietnamese troops impressed with their strong, dignified marching presence on Red Square, symbolizing the valor of the Vietnamese people and the strength of the Vietnam People’s Army.
Their participation reflected Vietnam's foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization and diversification, and its commitment to global peace, stability, cooperation, and development.

Earlier that morning, Party chief To Lam and his spouse attended the official welcome ceremony for visiting leaders at the Kremlin, hosted by President Putin.
Following the parade, the Vietnamese delegation joined a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Aleksandrovsky Garden by the Kremlin Wall.
