Vietnam’s PV Gas imports nearly 60,000 tonnes of LNG to support power supply

The company said the second shipment of the year, about 32,700 tonnes from Malaysia, was unloaded on April 3 at the Thi Vai LNG terminal, followed by a third cargo of roughly 27,300 tonnes from Brunei on Wednesday.

All imported LNG has been regasified and fed into the national gas system to supply power plants and industrial users, helping ensure stable energy supply as domestic gas output declines and electricity demand rises.

PV Gas said the additional supply supports the safe and continuous operation of Vietnam's gas-to-power system during the dry season from April to June, when demand for electricity typically increases.

The company also said it has raised regasification capacity at the Thi Vai terminal to 288 tonnes per hour, improving its ability to receive and process LNG and enhancing flexibility in gas supply management.

PV Gas said it would continue to expand LNG imports and optimize gas infrastructure operations to help maintain national energy security.
