Sun PhuQuoc Airways, a newcomer to Vietnam's aviation industry, has launched a direct route between Phu Quoc and Bangkok, making Bangkok its sixth international destination as the airline continues expanding its international network and strengthening the island’s connections with major regional tourism and aviation hubs.

The airline operates one daily round trip on the route, cutting travel time between the two leading regional tourist destinations to just 1 hour and 20 minutes.

The maiden flight on the route departed Phu Quoc International Airport at 10:35 am on Saturday and landed at Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 11:55 am the same day.

The return flight left Bangkok at 1:10 pm and arrived in Phu Quoc at 2:30 pm.

The route gives travelers another travel option between the two destinations.

To mark the launch, Sun PhuQuoc Airways is offering fares from VND1.456 million (US$55.6) one way on the Phu Quoc-Bangkok route for travel between August 1 and 31, 2026.

With Sun Group’s Sun Signature loyalty program, Sun Signature, members can earn points on each flight and redeem them for award tickets, checked baggage, seat selection, and other privileges across the group’s ecosystem.

Connecting Phu Quoc to international markets

As one of Southeast Asia’s major aviation gateways, Bangkok is expected to help Phu Quoc attract a more diverse flow of international visitors.

According to data from Phu Quoc International Airport, flights connecting Bangkok and Phu Quoc carried nearly 159,000 passengers in January-July 2026, up 57 percent year on year, reflecting strong growth in travel demand between the two destinations.

A Sun PhuQuoc Airways representative said passengers on the Bangkok route tend to travel internationally frequently and have high expectations for punctuality and service quality.

“With our full-service model, we hope to offer a new option while contributing to two-way passenger flows between Vietnam and Thailand through one of the region’s most dynamic aviation hubs,” the representative said.
