Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man on Friday called on the Vietnamese community in Turkey to be stronger, more united and further integrated into the host society at a meeting where he also listened to their concerns and proposals.

Man, accompanied by his spouse Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga and a high-level delegation, met the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Turkey and members of the Vietnamese community as part of his April 15–17 trip to attend the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and conduct bilateral activities, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

Man conveyed greetings from Party and State leaders, including Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, and extended his best wishes to embassy staff and the Vietnamese community.

He encouraged Vietnamese in Turkey to stay united, support one another, and build an increasingly strong community while integrating into the host society, complying with local laws, and upholding the positive image of Vietnam.

He urged them to preserve and promote Vietnamese cultural identity, language, and family traditions so that younger generations born and raised abroad remain connected to their roots.

At the meeting, Man listened to feedback and recommendations from community representatives.

Representing the group, Luu Thai Hung said Vietnamese in Turkey comply with local laws and actively support one another in times of difficulty, including natural disasters.

He noted that the community had supported Vietnamese rescue teams during the devastating earthquake in southeastern Turkey in early 2023.

Hung proposed that the National Assembly and government introduce more favorable policies on dual citizenship and residency in Vietnam, as well as support efforts to maintain Vietnamese language education and preserve cultural traditions among younger generations.

Responding to these proposals, Man outlined policy updates affecting overseas Vietnamese, noting that the National Assembly and government have revised various regulations and are considering amendments to the law on overseas representative missions to improve efficiency, particularly in citizen protection and community support.

He said key laws related to civil status, land, housing, and real estate business have been adopted to facilitate overseas Vietnamese to invest and do business in Vietnam.

Man said Vietnam maintained macroeconomic stability, ensured social welfare, and strengthened its international standing in 2025 despite ongoing challenges.

He added that these results were the result of the combined efforts of the entire political system and Vietnamese people at home and abroad, including the community in Turkey.

The top legislator also briefed the community on recent major national events, including the 14th National Party Congress and elections for the 16th National Assembly and People’s Councils for the 2026–31 term, along with ongoing efforts to streamline the political system.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Turkey Dang Thi Thu Ha said the community in the country numbers about 200 people.

Although there is not yet an official association, the embassy and community members have established a liaison board and are working toward forming a formal Vietnamese association to better connect and support one another.

Man asked the embassy to continue supporting the community in stabilizing their lives, strengthening connections, and promoting investment and business ties between the two countries.
